Shannon has spent more than three decades in the hunter/jumper world, from her early years on the rated circuit to working at Wellington Show Stables in Florida under Helen Varble.

In 2003, she returned to Illinois and opened Downtown Equestrian Center from the ground up. What began as a small, focused program has grown into a long-standing training barn and community, with a major expansion to a larger facility in Peotone in 2023.

Shannon continues to compete at the Grand Prix level successfully with multiple wins and top finishes at national venues. With more than 35 years in the sport, her training philosophy is straightforward: strong basics, clear communication, and programs built around the individual horse and rider. The goal is steady progress, confidence in the ring, and partnerships that last, whether you’re learning the ropes or aiming for the next level.
